In the heart of the Kingdom’s desert, one of the world’s largest gas storage facilities aims to supply domestic energy needs.
The Hawiyah Gas Reservoir Storage is our new mega-project, marking the first strategic subsurface gas storage facility in the Kingdom.
The facility contributes to the diversification of our energy mix and reserves crude oil for other high-value applications and products.
Supplied by our Master Gas System, the facility can store up to 1.5 billion cubic feet of gas per day, with the capacity to produce up to 2.0 billion cubic feet of gas per day.
The storage of gas also allows us to fulfill the seasonal energy demands of the Kingdom.
The project also leverages cutting-edge technology in its operations, deploying state-of-the-art digital twins, advanced analytics, and machine learning technologies.
These technologies improve the facility’s efficiency, safety, and performance.
In line with our supply chain localization strategy, the Hawiyah Gas Reservoir Storage Mega-project has been localized by 67%, reflecting our commitment to support the Kingdom’s economic growth.
