Youth Day
VIDEO: On Youth Day, we asked our experienced staff to share their wisdom with our young employees
Young people urged to find your sense of purpose, bring energy and creativity to every interaction, and see the bigger picture in your work.
As we move forward, what advice should young employees take from those with experience?

Two items: The first, find your sense of purpose, this will be your guiding star throughout your career, for short-term or for long-term. If you haven't found it that’s okay, embrace the journey of exploring your passion.
My second piece of advice, and I always tell this to my mentees, whenever you enter a meeting or an interaction, bring two things: energy and creativity. Both will help you excel and differentiate yourself from others.

When I started my career in procurement and supply chain, there was this mentor, my boss at the time, who used to see the work that I did and the excitement that I had as (someone in the) Professional Development Program.
But at the same time he noticed how I started to become a bit discouraged because I couldn’t feel the impact that I’m leaving on the company. He told me at the time: “Bilal, look at Aramco as an apple. An apple gets sliced and diced, representing the different organizations within the company, and those slices and dices get also sliced and diced again, and again. That represents the work each organization does.”
You might be scraping that one piece, and you might feel that you’re not making an impact, but no matter how small your work might feel, rest assured that when you put the pieces back together you will see that apple again.

I would advise the youth, the new generation, to first of all believe in themselves. And the amount of knowledge and data available nowadays is a lot, make the most use of it.
Explore yourself, don’t be afraid to make mistakes, this is how you will learn. What really resonates with me all the time is the saying that the only person who will make zero mistakes is the person who’s doing nothing, basically.
So, don’t be afraid to go and explore even if you think you’re failing, you’re not failing, it’s added to your experience.
