Khalid Y. Al Qahtani has been appointed senior vice president of Engineering Services.

 

Al Qahtani previously served as vice president and chief engineer from January 2022, after serving as manager of the Project Management Office between June 2021 and December 2021.

 

Prior to that, Al Qahtani was manager of the Process and Control Systems Department from July 2019, with a number of acting manager positions from 2018.

 

He joined the company in October 1999, after earning a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. Al Qahtani later earned a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at the University of Waterloo in Canada in 2009.

 

After a decade as an engineer in a variety of functions, including South Ghawar Engineering and Pipelines and Simulation, he was named supervisor of Process Modeling and Optimization in Engineering Services in April 2011. In May 2013, Al Qahtani was named general supervisor for Upstream Process Engineering, and later in the year joined the Petro Rabigh JV to lead the Process and Operation Engineering Division.

 

In August 2016, he was named coordinator for Facilities Planning for Refining and Chemical Facilities, and a year later took on the coordinator role for Gas Facilities Planning, a position he held until September 2018. It was from this position that Al Qahtani was named manager of Process and Control Systems in July 2019, after serving as acting manager. He later served as a manager in the Domestic Analysis Department before joining the Project Management Office.

 

Al Qahtani has completed a number of leadership courses since joining the company, including the Saudi Aramco Leadership Forum, BAP Business Accounting, Financial and Risk Management Capability Program, the Aramco Manager and Corporate Level Assessment, and the Executive program at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
