Abdul Hameed A. Al Dughaither appointed executive vice president of EXPEC and Drilling
The new position and appointment become effective Sept. 1.
Abdul Hameed A. Al Dughaither has been appointed executive vice president of EXPEC and Drilling, after serving as senior vice president of Drilling and Workover, since May 2017.
Al Dughaither joined the company in 1988 after earning a B.S. degree in Petroleum Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals.
In 1990, he was assigned to Drilling and Workover, and over the ensuing three years, Al Dughaither gained valuable experience in many aspects of the job before being named a supervisor of the unit in 2002.
In 2004, he was promoted again, to manager in the Upstream Ventures Department overseeing LUKOIL Saudi Aramco.
After two years of filling that role, Al Dughaither became manager of Development Drilling Operations for the Northern Area (2006-2007), then Offshore Drilling and Producing and ultimately Exploration Drilling.
In October 2009, he was made manager of Safaniyah Offshore Producing until being assigned as general manager, Drilling, in November 2011, which later was retitled to chief drilling engineer in January 2014. In July 2016, Al Dughaither was named executive director of Drilling & Workover, after serving as the company’s chief drilling engineer — a position he officially assumed in November 2011.
Al Dughaither is chairman of the Board of Managers of the Aramco Rowan Drilling Company (ARO Drilling) and chairman of the Board of Managers of the Arabian Rig Manufacturing Company (ARM). He is a member of the Aramco Gulf Operations Co. Ltd. (AGOC) Board of Directors, International Maritime Industries (IMI) Board of Managers, and Saudi Aramco Development Company Board of Directors (SADCO).
In recognition of his contribution and visionary leadership to the energy sector, Al Dughaither received the Stephen A. Holditch Visionary Leadership Award in 2021.
