Ibrahim Iliyan, Aramco petroleum engineer of 37 years, passes away
Iliyan was well-know for his replica of the Prosperity 7 wellhead, as well as helping revise the company’s Drilling and Workover manual.
Ibrahim Iliyan, 85, passed peacefully in his home in Montreal, Quebec on Oct. 23, 2022, surrounded by his family.
Ibrahim was born on Feb. 21, 1937, in Jaffa, Palestine. Upon completion of a Petroleum Engineering degree in Egypt, Ibrahim moved on to a 37-year career with Aramco. He was one of the pioneers in the petroleum exploration field. Ibrahim was acknowledged for his recreation of a replica of the original 1938 Dammam No. 7 Wellhead, also known as Prosperity 7. His career culminated in helping update and revise the Aramco Drilling and Workover manual.
Ibrahim will be remembered as a hardworking, loving, and devoted husband and father who remained active well into his retirement, enjoying biking and gardening.
