Aramco hosts electricity safety campaign for Yanbu’ students
Arc flash technologies, safe switching procedures and general awareness highlighted in course offered by company’s Southern Area and Regional Power Operations Department.
As part of our efforts to support the communities in which we operate, Aramco recently hosted students from Yanbu’ Royal Commission Colleges and Schools.
Mazin Bakhsh of Aramco’s Southern Area and Regional Power Operations Department (SA&RPOD) hosted several electrical and safety awareness campaigns throughout October. The campaigns targeted students from the Yanbu’ area and were attended by students from Royal Commission Colleges and Schools; Ibn Al-Nafees, Ibn Khaldoon, Ibn Hazm, Yanbu' Industrial College, Yanbu’ Technical Institute, and Yanbu’ University College.
The program objective is to offer an opportunity to the young participants to have a general awareness of the electrical system configuration, arc flash safety technologies, safe electrical switching procedures and electrical trouble shooting techniques. This program was conducted at Yanbu' Power Operations Service Center.
The program covered Aramco’s Safe and Arc Less Electric Measures (SALEM) Program, familiarization with electrical personal protective equipment, safe switching procedures utilizing SA&RPOD training substation and cable simulators to help participants identify and avoid electrical hazards in their shops and homes.
The program also included “heartsaver” sessions to share tips and techniques that can help save the lives of others.
